Valdisotto welcomes in Alta Valtellina with many small inhabited centers that extend both on the valley floor, along the course of the river Adda up to Bormio, and on the slopes of the mountains that surround it. Ideal frames of a lush territory, rich in woods, streams and water sources, like that of one of the world's most famous mineral waters, Levissima, flowing right in these places.

Valdisotto, together with Bormio and Valdidentro - respectively with the Vallecetta slopes and facilities and those of Mount S. Colombano - shares one of the most important ski areas in the province of Sondrio, offering many opportunities, both in summer and winter, to its visitors.

While in winter the main outdoor activity is skiing in its various forms, summer is the perfect time to regenerate and relax in a natural setting on a human scale, especially in small mountain villages where mass tourism is only a distant echo. Among these small inhabited centers stands out tha charming village of Oga, which, surrounded by extensive coniferous woods and by the most beautiful peaks of the central Alps, offers a spectacular view of the basin of Bormio.

Right near this small village there are two of the most important sites of the Valdisotto: the Venini military fort, built between 1908 and 1914 to defend the main Alpine passes of the Alta Valtellina and now equipped as a museum of the Great War, and the important nature reserve of Paluaccio of Oga, whose vegetation, typical of peat bog, is full of very rare species, with unusual and specific features of great scientific value for our Alpine regions.

This intense and pristine natural environment underpins another peculiarity of Valdisotto: the great attachment of its population to the rural traditions, which is expressed in numerous folklore events fit into a lively offering of cultural events, including lectures and concerts which are annually arranged during the "Valdisotto in musica" concert festival, held every summer in July
